Regular cutting of turf grasses at a set height, adjusted seasonally and for turf type, is not only important to the overall look of the lawn, but it allows the turf to withstand weather and temperature extremes better than turf cut at irregular times, where more of the leaf surface has to be removed. Cutting at a consistent height removes only small portions of the leaf surface that decompose quickly in the lawn, doing this helps to prevent thatch as well as disease and insect problems.
