Mark Barnett is a seasoned landscape professional with 254Lawns, a respected landscape design and maintenance company serving the Central Texas region. With a career spanning over four decades, Mr. Barnett brings extensive expertise in horticulture, plant science, and sustainable landscape practices to every project.
A graduate of Texas State Technical College with a degree in Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture (1982), Mr. Barnett began his professional journey in 1981 within the retail garden industry. Since then, he has worked continuously in the garden and landscape field under multiple employers. He joined 254 Lawns in April 2024, where he continues to provide comprehensive design and maintenance services to both residential and commercial clients.
Mr. Barnett has been an active contributor to the horticultural community for decades. He has served as a member of the McLennan County Horticulture Advisory Committee since 1987 and is a charter member of the McLennan County Master Gardeners (established 1996). In addition, he is a member of the McLennan County Master Gardeners Speakers Bureau, sharing his knowledge and passion for plants and landscape stewardship with the community.
A lifelong educator, Mr. Barnett retired in 2011 from his role as an Adult Continuing Education Instructor at McLennan Community College, where he taught from 1987 to 2011. His commitment to professional development is reflected in his extensive training and certifications, which include:

- Certificate of Completion in Arboriculture
- Two Certificates of Completion in Native Landscaping
Mr. Barnett had memberships in numerous professional and horticultural organizations, including the Organic Gardening Club, Rose Society, Waco Chapter of the Native Plant Society, Waco Council of Garden Clubs, and the Heart of Texas Beekeepers Association.
